It’s going on week two of social distancing and quarantine during the coronavirus pandemic, and besides the occasional trip to Target the allure of being at home is starting to wear thin. If you’re like me and find yourself drowning in the silence of your own apartment/home/space and don’t have enough contacts to Facetime, here are three podcasts by black women to fill the void.
1. The Secret Lives of Black Women
I got into this podcast hosted by Charla Lauriston and Lauren Domino through their first episode of season three with Teen Vogue’s Editor-In-Chief Lindsay Peoples Wagner. If you do anything today, go listen to that interview! So many gems!
2. hey, girl.
I’ve been listening to Alex Elle’s soothing voice for over a year now. The hey, girl. podcast if one of my favorites to put on early in the morning when I’m getting ready. There’s always a little nugget of advice or an aha moment with each episode, whether you relate to the topic or not.
3. Therapy For Black Girls
I have to mention this podcast ran by licensed psychologist Dr. Joy Harden Bradford, especially in today’s climate of uncertainty and anxiety. Nothing beats having a licensed mental health professional who knows you personally, but if you don’t have access to or can’t afford therapy then this podcast can at least point you in the right direction.
