SWAN Day Chicago 2017

Support Women Artists Now, better known as SWAN Chicago, had their 4th annual art show at The Annex on Chicago Ave. last weekend. This was my third time attending one of these events. I missed last year’s showing, so I had to make it this one. Especially since one of my friends, Caira Conner, was one of the featured artists. This year’s theme was digital art and the artists did not disappoint. The free drinks definitely helped everyone get into the mood and the space was open and inviting. Definitely an upgrade on previous years, where we were all packed into a tiny gallery space barely able to navigate due to the crowd.

Check out all the artists and their work on Instagram! And follow @swandaychicago to stay in the know for next year’s event.

SWAN DAY 2015: Celebrating Women Photographers

swan, swan day, support women artists now, swan chicago, beauty and brawn art gallery, chicago artists, chicago photographers, chicago black artists, chicago black photographers, female artists, female photographers, black women artists, black women photographers, imani amos,   I had the pleasure of attending SWAN Day 2015 on Saturday night and was not disappointed. I went to last year’s SWAN show, which stands for Support Women Artists Now, so I already knew it was going to be turnt. Free champagne, good music, people, and art, what more could a girl ask for? The show featured the photography of Imani Amos, Kiara Sinclair, Dominique Shepherd, and Stacia Wiggins. I even got to see Rebal Hue magazine’s cover girl, AJ Peace perform. She was amazing and full of energy. I will definitely try to catch one of her shows before the year is out. Speaking of Chicago musicians, I did spy Chance The Rapper as I was walking in the gallery. It’s nice to see Chicago artists supporting one another.
